Publications Manager / Principal Writer and Editor (Full-Time)

Statewide not for profit seeks full-time, experienced technical writer, editor and project manager to support the agency and its clients in the child welfare and human services arenas. 

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Writing and/or editing reports, manuals, brochures, website content, newsletters, and other published materials for Welfare Research Inc. (WRI) and its clients
  • Managing publication projects, including meeting with client to clarify their needs; coordinating and incorporating multiple external reviews; and moving project to completion
  • Working closely with WRI Art Director to coordinate layout and design
  • Collaborating with staff to write marketing and promotional materials for WRI, its programs and clients, including printed pieces, website materials, and social media postings
  • Writing grant proposals and letters of intent for both WRI and its clients
  • Preparing reports as required by clients and funding organizations
  • Facilitating online meetings and webinars
  • Providing additional agency support as requested

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Bachelor's degree required; masters' degree preferred
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Relevant experience
  • History of working in nonprofit and/or public sector preferred
  • Training and experience in writing grant proposals and funding requests
  • Knowledge of human services (child welfare, health, education, etc.) 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work well in a team setting

Salary Range: $51,000-$57,000 commensurate with experience. Excellent benefit package, including membership in NYS Retirement System.  Position located at WRI's Albany, NY offices.
